Trusting The Process

Lesson 10

Leviticus 17, verse 11 says, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.”

The word, “atonement” refers to the covering over of sin. Jesus’ blood actually washes away the sin in your soul, of course. Jesus’ blood washes away every single sin that has ever wounded your soul, whether it was your sin, a sin committed against you or even sins committed by your ancestors. Jesus’ blood takes that sin out. That’s why Leviticus declares, “It’s the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.”

To begin the soul-healing process, start with the blood of Jesus.

Now, let’s say your “friend” has an intense dispute with somebody and they say some very hurtful things. So, now, your friend is sorry for what they said or did. What do they do? As a Christian, they go into their closet and repent, right? That is what we are taught, so we understand that is the process. But there’s one more step that we don’t understand.

Church people have been repenting and repenting for years. They’ve been forgiving and that’s great. We’re supposed to do that. As believers, we are called to do that. We’re called to apply the blood in that way.

However, when we sin, it can wound us and there is a different power, a special power that is for healing those wounds caused by sin and trauma. What is that power? It’s the power called, “dunamis ” that comes to us from the Resurrection.

In Acts 10:38, it says, “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and He went around doing good and healing all who are under the power of the devil because God was with Him.” So God gave Jesus this anointing. And Jesus used that anointing of power to heal people. What is so special about this anointing of power?

The word, “power” is the Greek word, “dunamis”, which has different meanings. First, it means “the power to perform miracles.” God anointed Jesus Christ with power giving Him the ability to perform all those amazing miracles. You want to know how Jesus did the miracles? He did it with dunamis. It enabled him to cause the blind to see, the deaf to hear and the lame to walk. Because that word “dunamis” means the power to perform a miracle.

Second, it means “excellence of soul.” The word “dunamis” means moral power and excellence of soul. That means Jesus went around healing peeps in their physical bodies. He healed them in their souls. He caused them to be excellent of soul. He healed the wounds inside of them with this power of dunamis. After that, Third John, chapter one tells what happened in those people’s lives.

When Jesus released dunamis on people, they became excellent of soul and then, all of a sudden, their physical health was restored! Their bodies were healed. According to John, they were prospered in their health even as their soul prospered.

Do you understand? Those healed by Jesus were healed in their souls, then their physical bodies followed suit. When your soul is healed, your physical body follows suit.

This has gone missing in our understanding. Jesus caused people to be excellent of soul with dunamis power and then their physical bodies were healed also.

When is the last time you prayed for yourself or somebody else to be physically healed by praying, specifically for your soul or theirs?
