Lesson 10

Remember that God had given us the symbol of the Mountain and thankfully, Holy Spirit kept giving us more revelation as we prayed into it. But, we only had one part of the puzzle. Demons still had a legal right to afflict us! It was the wounded soul again! Sin gives the demonic legal right to torment and afflict, because they are attached to the wounded soul; but if we get our soul free of wounds, the demonic loses their legal right and have to GO! We began the process of carving out the realm through the revelation God had given us, and suddenly the Lord brought it all together for me about the mountain. I woke up and He told me, “I want you to read Zechariah 4.” So, I opened my Bible and was looking right at that chapter!

“For who are you, O great mountain [of human obstacles]? Before Zerubbabel [who with Joshua had led the return of the exiles from Babylon and was undertaking the rebuilding of the temple, before him] you shall become a plain [a mere molehill]! And he shall bring forth the finishing gable stone [of the new temple] with loud shoutings of the people, crying, Grace, grace to it! Zechariah 4:7 (AMPC)

As soon as I read that, I knew exactly what that mountain was. It was the mountain of the soul, baby! The mountain of the soul was the impenetrable mountain that everyone had been dealing with. I knew it because when I read that story, the revelation just exploded inside of me.

Zerubbabel was an exile who did time in Babylon. He was an inmate, a prisoner. He and the rest of the Israelite captives, who had served 70 years behind bars in Babylon, had just come home from their imprisonment. God sent them home to Jerusalem and commanded them to rebuild the temple that the Babylonians had burnt down seventy years prior. While they were trying to rebuild, they ran into opposition from the people that lived outside of Jerusalem who didn’t want them to move back. They would do anything they could to keep what they had, even though they knew it belonged to God’s people. This caused God’s people to grow weary because of the way! God’s people finally broke ranks, gave up, and decided to call it quits. It was just too hard to rebuild something most of them had never even seen to begin with. Human obstacles…just like we have sometimes. Their souls were wounded from trying to rebuild the Temple, so they just stopped. For 18 years not one brick was laid. They had abandoned what God was giving them because they were wounded and weary. They decided to blend in, build their own houses, and make life easier for themselves and their families.

When they were trying to rebuild the temple, the problems that they ran into were coming from the mountain of human obstacles – the soul! The issues they faced were coming from the wounds inside of their own soul; attitudes and problems sprang up out of their soul. What were they doing when this mountain of human obstacles rose up? They were rebuilding the temple! What is the temple? We are the temple!

1 Corinthians 3:16-17 (AMPC) says, “Do you not discern and understand that you [the whole church at Corinth] are God’s temple (His sanctuary), and that God’s Spirit has His permanent dwelling in you [to be at home in you, collectively as a church and also individually]? If anyone does hurt to God’s temple or corrupts it [with false doctrines] or destroys it, God will do hurt to him and bring him to the corruption of death and destroy him. For the temple of God is holy (sacred to Him) and that [temple] you [the believing church and its individual believers] are.

Our body and our soul house the spirit of God, and the mountain of human obstacles that Zerubbabel was coming up against came up as he was trying to rebuild the temple! We are that temple now.

We’ve been asking why we can’t win the battle with the demonic. It is the soul. People have been wondering why they aren’t healed or why, even when they go to people with a known healing anointing, they still are not well. We pray, fast, tithe, and give our little faces off, and we still don’t get the healing or the deliverance! Well, we finally figured out why. We can wait for our financial breakthrough all day long, but if our soul is wounded, we have a mountain we can’t get over. That was the mountain we kept seeing in our dreams, but now we know what it is, and we have a new symbol – the Temple, which is our soul.

Next week I will go into more detail about the symbol of the Temple and why that is important to us when we dream! Until then,
