The Supernatural Tool of Ascending

Lesson 1

For the next 8 weeks, I am going to teach you about a supernatural tool that I use every day that has brought acceleration into my personal life and ministry. It has enabled us to have breakthrough and understanding quickly. Because of this tool we receive provision, healing, and deliverance that would normally not be available to us. I am talking about the supernatural tool of ascending into the heavenly realms.

First we will learn how to ascend into the heavens and bring all that is in the heavens waiting for us back to earth. The scriptures tell us that we are citizens of heaven.

“But we are citizens of the state (commonwealth, homeland) which is in heaven, and from it also we earnestly and patiently await [the coming of] the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) [as] Savior,” Philippians 3:20 (AMPC)

The word ‘citizen’ means an inhabitant of a place. A person entitled to the privileges and franchises of that place. Heaven is our native land. We are just visiting here. What is in heaven? Everything! Everything you need to have life abundant is in the heavenly realms. Wisdom and understanding to solve a problem, healing that you need desperately, deliverance from demonic oppression, provisions for yourself, ministry, business, and family – every provision you could ever need is located in the heavenly realms. More importantly, the peace and presence of God are in heaven. We have the legal right to have possession of all those things any time we want or need because of our citizenship.

Ascending is one way that you can bring the things from heaven to earth. The word, “ascend’ means ‘to climb, to go upward, to proceed from an inferior degree to a superior degree. It also means ‘to go to the source’. Your source is in heaven. When you learn how to climb, go upward, and proceed from this inferior realm to the superior realm of heaven, you will be able to take hold of the things you need and bring them to earth.

This realm that we are living in, walking in, touching right now, is actually inferior to the invisible realm of heaven, because everything we see, touch, hear and feel was made out of the invisible heavenly realm. “…we understand that the worlds (universe, ages) were framed and created [formed, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose] by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.” Hebrews 11:3 (AMP) Our home is in heaven and it is where our source is. So, we need to learn how to go up there and get our stuff!

Ephesians 2:6 tells us that God has raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in heavenly realms. The word, ‘seated’ in that verse is in the past tense. You are already there! You don’t have to wait until you physically die and pass on into glory to go up into heaven; you are already seated in heavenly realms with Christ. The word, ‘seated’ actually means this: ‘the right of admittance to such a space’. The work that Jesus did on the cross gives us the legal right to have admittance into our eternal homeland…the heavens.

Your body and soul are here on earth living, operating, and working. God’s spirit is your breath of life and it sustains the clay jar that you live in. If His spirit were to completely depart from you, you would pass into glory. However, in the eternal realm past, present, future, time and space are all together as one. You can be anywhere instantly in Heaven and there is no limit to space. Because there is no time and there is no distance in heaven that means your spirit man can be operating in you but it can also be operating inside of heaven simultaneously!

Jacob experienced an open Heaven. “Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. And behold, the Lord stood above it and said: ‘I am the Lord God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants.  Also your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad to the west and the east, to the north and the south; and in you and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.  Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.’” Genesis 28:12-15 (NKJV)

Jacob sees the heavens open up and a ladder dropping down between heaven and earth. At the top of the ladder, God was speaking promises over Jacob. The angels were ascending and descending on the ladder. Notice the order of this angelic visitation; the angels were first ascending and then descending. You might think it would be the other way around but, it tells us regarding angels in Hebrews 1:14 (NKJV) “Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?” Psalm 103 says that angels hearken to the voice of the Lord. So, the angels that were already down here ministering to Jacob did what angels do: they hearkened to the voice of the Lord. As soon as they heard God speak those promises over Jacob they ascended up the ladder into heaven to get everything needed to make those promises come to pass and then they descended back down to earth to release it to Jacob. This tool of ascending is for you to bring the promises of God to pass in your life in an accelerated manner. Now when God speaks a promise you can immediately ascend up into the heavens, get what is needed to make that promise come to pass and then bring it back down here to earth and release it into your life.

In John 1:51 (NKJV) Jesus is talking to Nathaniel and He says this: “… Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafter you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.” There’s that order again; the angels first ascending and then descending. When Jesus was here on earth, He had angels ministering to Him. In Mark 1:13 (AMP) Jesus is in the 40 day fast in the desert and the angels attended Him continually.

When Jesus was preparing for His death in the Garden of Gethsemane, Luke 22 says the angels came and strengthened Him. Heaven holds all we need to solve any problem we have here on earth. Angels can ascend into heaven on our behalf. Can humans do it too? It is one thing for an angel to ascend but, quite another thing entirely for a human being to do it. We will discuss this in greater detail next week!
