Lesson 13
Atoning for my Soul!
In the last lesson, we learned our spirit is not the culprit for our repeated sins after we have claimed the redemptive power in the blood of Jesus during repentance. I showed you how we have missed the second step necessary for embracing all that Christ did for us. We need both the blood to atone for our sin, and Resurrection power to heal our wounded souls.
Two simple steps activate healing of soul wounds. If you are afflicted in your physical body or mind, will, or emotions, read on and learn to use this process. I discovered it to be the missing key, which I learned after many hours in my prayer closet. It worked for me and it has worked for countless others.
In 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (KJV), it says, “For the weapons of our warfare, not carnal, are mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds, casting down imaginations and every high thing, that exalts itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” The Bible tells us we have strongholds in areas of our minds. Our minds are part of our souls. In that scripture, the word “mighty” means, strong in soul. To apply the mighty weapons, start now with the powerful blood of Christ. Place your hand on your heart or your stomach as an act of faith that you are believing your decrees are going to your soul.
For areas connected to your mind, begin to repent for every imagination, high thing, every thought that has exalted itself against God or against the knowledge of God. Bring those thoughts into captivity. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any wrong thoughts or ways of thinking that are not of God. Ask Him to specifically bring something to your mind that may be your way, not God’s way. When He brings it to your mind, you have a target. Repent for those thoughts and cover them in the blood.
Leviticus 17:11 says the blood atones for the soul. Apply it to your target. Picture the blood washing away every sin in your mind. Allow it to wash away every instance where you let yourself think wrong thoughts, had wrong imaginations, or where you have wrong reasoning. If you think resentful thoughts toward someone, repent for it and exercise your faith that those sins are washed by the blood.
Forgive the people that were on your mind when you asked Him to show you those thoughts. Use the blood both ways, repentance and forgiveness. Give Him thanks and praise
Now activate repentance for your will. Use the same steps and have the Holy Spirit show you any decisions you have made that weren’t God-led, or Holy Spirit-led decisions. Submit any decisions you made out of your own will, like buying something you knew you shouldn’t or signing up for something you weren’t supposed to. Maybe you snapped at a co-worker or a loved one. Maybe you overspent at the grocery store when you shopped while hungry. When He shows you a target, go through the same process. Put the blood on it and ask forgiveness.
Next, repent for emotions. In Psalms, it says emotion comes from our souls. It tells us, for example we have sorrow of soul, our soul is downcast and disquieted within us, our soul refuses to be comforted, that it is full of troubles. Our soul is full of anxieties. Ask Holy Spirit to convict you or show you when you allowed yourself to come into agreement with a sorrow from your soul or the heaviness that came from your soul. When you allowed the anxieties pouring out of your soul take control. Maybe a time you got so bad you refused to be comforted. Just repent of those times.
Decree in Jesus’ name right now, that you will submit your mind, will and emotions to Him. No longer will you let your wounded soul control your decisions. Thank Him that right now His blood is covering every sin that He brought to your mind, and thank Him. You are being healed in those areas of your soul, and will make good decisions from this moment on.
During this process you will be cleaned up and your soul healed from the wounds that are controlling you. You will see a whole new level of success in all your endeavors. Go through this process several times over the following days and next week we will move forward!
