Dunamis is the same power Jesus used to defeat our enemy Satan and every sickness, disease and disorder he uses to attack people. Acts 10:38 says, “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power (dunamis): who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him” (KJV). Don’t forget what the Bible says, in 3 John 1:2 – that we are prospered and brought in to health “even as our soul prospers.” When we receive healing in our souls, we get miracles in our finances and in our bodies.
Jesus was anointed with dunamis, which gave Him the power to perform amazing miracles, but because dunamis also means “excellence of soul”, it meant that everyone to whom He ministered, was healed of their soul wounds! When He released His anointing of dunamis on them, it caused their souls to become excellent. en they were prospered and brought into health, even as their souls prospered.
Jesus wasn’t the only one to heal people using dunamis. He also gave it to His disciples and it empowered them to do signs, wonders and miracles.
The book of Matthew says,
“And Jesus summoned to Him His twelve disciples and gave them power (dunamis) and authority over unclean spirits, to drive them out, and to cure all kinds of disease and all kinds of weakness and infirmity” (Matthew 10:1).
As soon as Jesus imparted dunamis to the disciples, He immediately commanded them to, “Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, drive out demons. Freely (without pay) you have received, freely (without charge) give” (Matthew 10:8). This is dunamis in action. One reason the disciples could heal the diseased, cleanse lepers and drive out demons was because they had been given the power to make sick people excellent in their souls!
You have dunamis too! It’s already living inside of you but you probably didn’t know it or know what it could do for you.
