Lesson 13
This week, I am taking time out from the soul-healing series to share an exciting new teaching. Right up front, I want you to know it will challenge you. When I first received the inspiration to study and write about this, I had to deal with some beliefs I have held for a very long time. I talk about the process in a short video here, if you want to see more.
Okay, fasten your seat belt.
Most of my life, I was angry. Even as a little kid I was stubborn and rebellious. As you probably know, my decisions landed me in federal prison. There, I frequently picked fights and spent a lot of time in solitary confinement. Even after I accepted Jesus into my life, my anger frequently controlled me. This made me feel condemned and “damaged”. It seemed contrary to the biblical promises of joy and peace. What was wrong? How can I fix “me”?
At the same time, I seemed to be constantly battling some sort of affliction. I could list them, but take my word; it was one thing after another after another. I began to wonder if my attitude problems were facilitating the sicknesses and vice versa.
Then, someone I respected a lot suggested I had a character bent. This was a new concept for me, so I began studying the bible for evidence. In Genesis 6:4-5, it says giants, the mighty men, appeared on earth and something happened to bend men’s hearts toward evil. I asked the Lord for an example of someone with a “heart bent toward evil”. Right away, He gave me “King Saul”.
It turns out, Saul and I had a few things in common. He was rebellious too. In 1st Samuel 15, we read where he rejected the instruction of the Lord when he refused to kill King Agag and kept the best of the Amalekite’s herds, even though he had been commanded by God to destroy them.
God regretted allowing Saul to become king of Israel and sent Samuel to deal with him. Samuel confronted the negative character bents that controlled Saul’s soul and had prevented him from simply obeying God. Samuel said to him, “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as idolatry,” (v.23).
God equates rebellion with witchcraft and stubbornness with idolatry. Not good.
So, where did Saul get these negative character bents? From his father, I believe. In 1st Samuel 1:9 we learn Saul’s father was named Kish and was described there as “a mighty man.” This is the same description used in Genesis 6. When I looked up “Kish” in Strong’s Concordance, it meant “bent”!
Further study convinced me Saul actually came from a bloodline of mighty men. He is described as taller than the men of his day. He was a physically imposing man.
This revelation proved to be a game-changer for my life. All this time, I had tried and failed to correct something that was beyond my ability to correct. That led me to feel like a disappointment and a failure, which made me depressed and unhappy. It was a miserable cycle.
Now that I understood the problem, I could go to the root of it. I could apply the blood of Jesus and dunamis and be rid of it forever! After doing so, for the first time in my life, I walked in peace and freedom.
Character bents plague us and facilitate the acts that lead to death and destruction in our lives! Yet, the blood washes our conscience clean, so we can freely serve the living God! We can finally enjoy the “peace that passes all understanding”.
My purpose in sharing this with you this week is to simply introduce you to this vast and intriguing concept. It is so vast; in fact, I am covering it in three separate teachings. Jesus is so amazing! Through His sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection, He made sure you could be healed of every negative character BENT that defeats any GIANT that would come against your life.

I have trying to get to one of your meetings for a long time. In 2014 in Nov. we moved to Youngsville, NC near Raleigh. The Lord has blessed us but I have had a problem with some things just about all of my life and I have prayed and prayed and the Lord does not talk to me like he does with many people and I feel left out. I have heard your story before and after Christ and it always made me so glad to see how the Lord has worked in your life. I continue to ask the Lord what he wants me to do for him and how I can love him more. I will be 80 in January. I am trying to generate more income as I want to provide a home for my wife but that is not going very well right now. I always thought if I could meet you in person you could bring hope to me.
Lord, bless James and deliver him from all those things that he knows does not please you and fill him with your most Holy Spirit!

Right on Katie, as usual! I woke up one morning a while back and God spoke one word to me, as He often does. Then I have to look up the word and learn what He is saying to me. The word was “recalcitrant”. I had never heard of that word! Well, it means stubborn, hard to work with, not cooperative. . . Many years ago, He had spoken another word to me – it’s always first thing in the morning. That word was “winnow”. Again, I didn’t know the meaning. It means to separate truth from lies, but it also means to get the junk out of your house so you can see over it and think!! General George Patton said, “Pare down!” Same meaning. So that was maybe 15 years ago, and I still have not done it. I’ve been dealing with blood clots that keep forming, and then a month ago, I had a mini-stroke! So I’m looking at why, knowing it’s my fault and it’s between me and God. And it’s just what you’re talking about. So I’m working on winnowing my house like God told me to. But I’m also very interested in removing any bents that are not good. I’ll be listening for how to accomplish that and I will follow your lead!! Thank you Katie. We’re listening, and it’s working!!

There was also the book Soul Decrees with this package. Was I suppose to get the text book BENT? I enjoy all the cd’s but I also like having a hard copy if possible. Please advise. Thank you so much for this, this is exactly how I have been feeling for many years and also have been battling illness over the past 7 years even though I believe in the healing power of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. I noticed me being angry a lot as well and did not understand where this anger was coming from. I just thank you again, many blessings to you.
Rebellious under statement i definitely need to slay some giants in my life I used to have so much anger and rebellion but I want to here God and be obedient just don’t know how or where to start when i get going i get so into it and it gets jumbled then I back down thanks for your obedience and testimonials your AMAZING!
Yes me too I jumbled up when I do these things. Yes they do help, but I feel it doesn’t work alone and I can not ever, at least at this point ever go to one of the live events, which I dream of some day. Thanks for your amazing teachings. I have come a long way in understanding much and can get by, but distractions and people suffering from BENT people in their backgrounds are torturing me. When I finally get a handle on my issues and can live at peace, satan works through the ones I love with a vengenance. I can not wait to hear your next live stream. Right now I think you are truly the only teacher of biblical faith that I believe. You are humble and normal and you make sense. Today I became really down for the first time in ages and then I went directly here to be uplifted. I had a beautiful day yesterday where the clarity of all this and life was incredible and God did a miracle. I was so thankful and full of hope. Then satan got through those cracks and twisted my husband’s mind through the BENT roots he has. He managed to mess with my mind, and now a beautiful miracle is turned wrong and no matter how hard I pray and do the stuff you tough me I am sad and confused and doubting. This was what I needed. I ask only one question? When I watch these videos over and over can the prayers of annointing ect. still work that you pray even later? I really need to know that. Anyway never stop being you and teaching what God shows you and please come to Canada someday when they will finally give you green light. The prisons need you and your words could help so many. I left a comment yesterday and it disappeared or was removed I do not know why. Maybe I posted it wrong or said something wrong way. Anyway this teaching makes so much sense as I had said. I put these teachings to practice and it works and has made so much difference. I just find at times I get jumbled up and can’t get it all together or there is just so much resistence and I get distracted. Satan knows when you are getting a breakthrough and he works through others close to you to destroy all my efforts. The Giants have to be slayed in my life.
I have been amazed by the long-suffering of God in his patience and forgiveness for me. I have found when I do the same for others it always make me feel better about the mysewlf, the person and everything else. I pray that over you now! Jesus!!
