Open the Doors of Heaven

Lesson 10

One of the best things you can do to position yourself to ascend is to cultivate an open Heaven in your home. In Heaven there are doors, windows, and gates that when opened, will give you access to the heavenly realms and enable you to easily ascend and descend. If you want to attend a conference, the door has to be unlocked and opened so that you can enter the room. It is the same thing in the supernatural realm. There are literally doors in the invisible realm that when opened will give you access to ascend. Jesus said in John 1:51 (AMPC) “…I assure you, most solemnly I tell you all, you shall see Heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man!”

You see, the door was opened first and then the angelic activity of angels ascending and descending began.

The Apostle John got taken up into Heaven in Revelation 4:1-2 (AMPC), “After this I looked, and behold, a door standing open in Heaven! And the first voice which I had heard addressing me like [the calling of] a war trumpet said, ‘Come up here, and I will show you what must take place in the future.’ At once I came under the [Holy] Spirit’s power, and behold, a throne stood in Heaven, with One seated on the throne!’” John was able to easily go up because first a door opened to the heavens.

We need those doors and gates into the supernatural realm opened. If we can get them opened and keep them opened then ascending into the heavens is going to be easy for us. A simple way to get the heavens to open is with thanksgiving and praise during worship. Psalm 100:4 says that we enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and we enter His courts with praise. Thanksgiving opens the gates and praise allows you to enter the courts, into the throne room of God.

Cultivating an open Heaven in your home gives you many more benefits. What do you think happens when you open the doors of Heaven and they stay open? Everything in Heaven begins to come into your home. If you want supernatural encounters…that’s how you get them.

Over the next couple of weeks I’m going to share with you some tips for cultivating an open Heaven:

Carve out regular time with God…praising, worshiping, thanking and keeping your focus on Him. Everyone can set aside 30 minutes every day to worship God. It doesn’t matter how busy you are. No matter what your situation, you can get up 30 minutes earlier or you can go to bed 30 minutes later. Or…you could give up one of your TV shows!! Here’s the important part, if you are so busy and that you can only spend 30 minutes (which you need to do on a regular basis) you need to spend that half hour in fierce focus unto the Lord.

Here is what might happen at first. You will be worshipping the Lord; you’ve got the music on, your hands raised and you’re swinging to the beat baby…and you’re thinking of something else! You’re thinking about that person who said something to you yesterday – “How dare they!” (That will shut down the heavens real fast!) You can be praising Jesus, “Praise You Jesus! PRAISE You Jesus! Did I start that load of laundry?” Those things are going to happen because you are a human being and we all get distracted by things in the natural. YOUR part in contending for the Presence, and getting the heavens to open in your home is your focus. Fiercely focus! This is what I say to myself, “I only have 30 minutes, so I am going to go all out to focus on Jesus. I am going to praise, worship, and thank Him and I am going to decree scriptures over myself. I am going to sing along to this worship music and I am going to rejoice, lift my hands up, and dance! When I get distracted – I will bring my mind back to focus on Jesus.”

Even on days when you are distracted a lot, commit to yourself that you will bring your mind back to Jesus no matter how many times it drifts to something else. Hebrews 13:15; we need to offer a sacrifice of praise. Hebrews 4:11; we ‘labor’ to enter into His rest. Again, our part in ushering in God’s presence is to keep our focus on Christ and to bring it back no matter how many times we are distracted.
