Navigating the Storm

Lesson 8

This teaching is going to empower you to be able to navigate through all the storms in your life. I’m going to show you how the spirit of Legion is the biggest spirit behind many of the trials and difficult circumstances that you’re dealing with. I’ll also show you how to keep from being wounded during those times, so that Legion will not be able to gain dominion over you. It’s an exciting teaching that I learned through experience and through the Holy Spirit guiding me through scripture.

I want to show you how and why storms are created by demonic powers in your life. The first classic example is in the Book of Job. In chapters one and two of Job’s story, we see that Satan has been loosed to attack Job. First the Sabeans swooped down on Job’s animals and stole them, then slayed his servants by the edge of the sword. Then the Chaldeans took all his camels, killed the servants that were watching them, and stole everything he had. That was huge because Job possessed 700 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen, 500 female donkeys, and a great many servants.

Satan actually had the ability to influence the Sabeans and the Chaldeans to come and steal everything Job owned! Think about that. The enemy has the ability to create a storm where he controls people to come and assault you.

Paul speaks about that in Ephesians 6:12 (KJV) “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in the high places.” Paul is telling us that, many times, the storms in our lives that come from people have a dark influence behind them. The enemy is out to steal, kill, and destroy so he can drive people to steal from you, kill you, and destroy your life! Job went from the greatest man in the East to having absolutely nothing in one day, because the enemy was able to influence people to come and assault him.

Then, Job’s children were feasting in their elder brother’s house when a great whirlwind from the desert came and smote the four corners of the house. It fell upon the young people and they all died. It’s very interesting; the Bible says that a great whirlwind came and smote the house. That indicates that Satan is able to create storms in the natural.

Many people blame God for hurricanes, floods, and earthquakes. Even insurance companies call those things, “Acts of God.” In the Bible, there are many examples of God having complete control over the weather. But, I also see examples of Satan creating storms in the natural that could devastate somebody’s life.

I don’t believe that God intentionally ruins people’s lives. He gave his son to save us all. A lot of the storms we see are created by Satan himself to kill, steal, and destroy people’s lives.

In Job chapter two, it says that Job was covered from head to toe with painful boils! Many Christians blame God for sickness by saying, “God is making you ill because you’ve sinned! He’s trying to teach you a lesson through this sickness.” No, it’s Satan that puts sickness on us and Job’s a good example of that. Look in the New Testament. There, we see all kinds of sick people because of demonic activity. When Jesus commands a demon to come off, the sickness that’s on them leaves because it was demonically inspired. This tells me that the enemy is able to make storms in our lives.

We must understand this because in the middle of an overwhelming storm, we might have confusion about where this storm is coming from. Have I sinned, made God angry, not prayed or fasted enough? Is there something I’m missing? God gave his only son for us; God is not making the storm. The enemy is making the storm! We must realize that, so that we don’t get wounded and feel like God has left us or betrayed us or that God is a liar and is not protecting us. If we think the wrong way, we’re going to believe that we are always under judgment and never know if God is going to strike us, make us sick, or take something we love away from us.

Chronic sin opens up the door for demons to attack you, steal from you, and make you sick. God didn’t have to raise His hand against you; you opened the door yourself to be attacked by a storm from the enemy. So, we must know the difference. As I said before, I don’t believe God would put sickness on us when His son died for every curse, sickness, and disease.

The majority of the storms that we are dealing with, no matter what kind of storms they are, are coming from the spirit of Legion, and next week we will be looking at Mark 4 to prove that!
