Lesson 2
The soul. Trauma. Sin. Illness. It all seems a bit overwhelming at times. I thank God every day for all the times He has healed me, and I am so very thankful for the revelation He gives us in His Word. I travel a lot, and people often tell me about their illnesses, or their pain. They want to tell their story. You know, the outward manifestation of an inward problem, and I can’t keep quiet. It isn’t about the fact that they hurt their ankle and it won’t heal, so much as it’s about the resentment harbored over the way their ankle was injured.
So I break it down for them. Maybe they asked their spouse, like, 15 times, “Please take out the garbage.” Nothing… “Would you take out the garbage?” and still nothing, “Would you please take out the garbage?” Finally, said spouse says, “Oh okay,” but then they only open the back door and just kind of set the trash bag on the back porch and leave it there! Then, the next night, in the dark, spouse number one trips over the bag, falls down the stairs and now 5 years later their ankle’s never been the same.
I hear, “I’ve prayed, I’ve fasted, I’ve asked God to heal me, but nothing works!” These are all good things, don’t get me wrong. I’ve also heard people say, “I’ve left it at the cross, and I’ve put the blood on it!” Again, both good things, because without the cross, and the blood, we don’t have hope. The Blood is for our sin. Always and forever, Old Testament and New, it doesn’t change. Without the shedding of blood there is no propitiation for sin.
So, what about the lady with the bad ankle? Why didn’t the blood work, and why wasn’t it healed? I wasn’t hearing her say, “I was resentful, angry and bitter at my husband for what he did. I repented for that, asked Jesus to forgive me, and to forgive him for his part in my injury, and then I asked Jesus to heal my soul with the Dunamis power of His resurrection. Once Jesus healed my soul I was able to take authority over any demonic entity that was tormenting me, and my ankle was healed!” At least I didn’t hear things like that back then. I am hearing it more and more now. I guess people are getting the message!
When I read Mark 5:25-35 (AMPC); the story of the woman with the issue of blood, I realize, that Jesus has been dealing with our trauma for a long time. He could have just healed her. He could have just, you know, let the power flow out, and not said anything. But that’s not his style. I love Jesus’ style. He wanted us to know her story. Here is a woman, who was suffering for 12 years, not just from the illness, but the Bible says, “…and who had endured much suffering under [the hands of] many physicians and had spent all that she had, and was no better but instead grew worse…” Being ill can traumatize us, and doctors can traumatize us, even if they don’t intend too. The process of treatment is often worse than the illness. Finally, she reached her end, and she reached for Jesus….and He healed her at the source!
The moment she touched the hem of his garment “…immediately her flow of blood was dried up at the source, and [suddenly] she felt in her body that she was healed of her [distressing] ailment.” Jesus healed her at the source, which was her soul. Remember what Acts 10:38 (AMPC) says, “… God anointed and consecrated Jesus of Nazareth with the [Holy] Spirit and with strength and ability and power; how He went about doing good and, in particular, curing all who were harassed and oppressed by [the power of] the devil, for God was with Him.” So, Jesus had an anointing of Dunamis, and he used it to heal. Dunamis means excellent of soul, whether we’ve realized it or not, all these years, it means that Jesus was walking around healing people’s souls, and then their physical body would follow suit. They would prosper and be in health even as their soul was prospered. We have to start acting more like Jesus. If he healed with Dunamis, and he was healing people’s souls, don’t you think we should?

I love Katie’s voice. When she speaks my spirit is dominated with her voice. I know it’s not her It the Lord speaking to her. I have learned a lot since I saw her when she came to Joni’s Church. May GOD continue to bless her with his anointing. Thank you Katie
From the blog:
“Once Jesus healed my soul I was able to take authority over any demonic entity that was tormenting me, and my ankle was healed!”
This is an excellent blog post. I would like to point out, though, that not all soul wounds have demons attached. Really, the only way to know for sure if demonic activity is involved is through the Holy Spirit’s gift of discerning of spirits (one of the 9 gifts of the Spirit). Otherwise, you may be commanding nonexistent demons to go, which can be a dangerous practice.
Yes indeed, Sam, and thanks for sharing that!
I learn so much with your teaching! God continually bless you and keepup the excellent work!
