Cleaning House
“When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.” Matthew 12:43-45 (NKJV)
“House” in this passage is a metaphor for a soul and also a family line. Family lines are often referred to in terms of “the house of (David, Saul, Windsor, etc.)” So, Jesus is telling us to be serious about cleaning our house, and this means cleansing our own soul as well as our bloodline by bringing it all under the blood of Christ.
How exactly does the devil get in our “house” in the first place? Sin that we commit, and the sins in our bloodline committed in previous generations, open the door for the enemy. If we open the door to him, he comes full force, and as Jesus taught, he will bring his biggest, baddest cohorts with him for support if needed, because clearly demons do not want to leave their “house”.
Jesus wants to help us “sweep our house clean”, and then fill it with His glory! We are created to house His glory. Our soul “house” and our generational bloodline “house” must be cleaned and filled. The good news is that freedom has already been won for us at Calvary! Jesus paid it all on the cross. He stripped the devil of all power, and now we do the “sweeping” as we repent, and apply the blood of Christ.
The Curse of Sin-
There is another helpful passage in Acts that teaches us more about how generational sins affect us:
“Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;” Acts 3:1-2 (KJV)
This man was born lame from the womb. Christ became a curse for us (Gal. 3:13), so if you’re born again and your spirit is regenerated in Christ, there is no way a generational curse can cling onto your spirit man; the place that generational curse gets carried down, is through your soul.
The word “womb” in the Strong’s means, “The place where the fetus is conceived and nurtured,” and it also means “the soul.” Wounds, like generational curses, get passed down through the generations in the womb. All the sins and resulting curses from our family line get passed down to us, when we are babies, in the womb.
David, in Psalm 51:5 and 10 (KJV) says, “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.” He’s telling us that in the womb he received all the wounds that came from his parent’s sins. Just a few verses later he says, “Now, create in me a clean heart, oh, Lord.” That word “heart” means “the soul.” He’s asking God to clean his soul of the junk he was born with, and the junk he’s accumulated in his lifetime!
I believe the beggar at the Gate Beautiful was lame from the womb because he was born with a soul wound. In Acts 4:9 (KJV) Peter asks the Pharisees, “Are we being examined this day for the good deed done to this impotent man and by what means he was made whole?” “Impotent” has the same root meaning as the word “sick” which has to do with strength of one’s soul. Peter knew that there was something in this man’s soul he’d been born with that was causing him to be lame.
Rise Up!
This is how sin destroys. It opens the door for demonic torment and curses. The story of the beggar, as well as Jesus’ teaching on evil spirits should sober us and activate us! We can be free! We don’t have to put up with the bullying of seven devils in our lives. We can kick the enemy out of our house, our hearts, and our family line—for us and for our future generations! Like Peter said to the lame man, God says to us, “Rise up!” Yes, the enemy may have had his season of “living it up” on your dime, even daring to call your soul “his house”, but decree his time of freeloading is over, and evict him in Jesus’ name!
Pray this with me:
Lord, I repent for my sins, my ancestors’ sins, on both sides of my family line, all the way forward, and all the way back to Adam. I ask for your forgiveness. Please cleanse me and my bloodline with Your blood. On the basis of Your mercy and Your blood, I ask You to remove the consequences and curses of those sins from my life and the lives of my family. I decree that I am under the blood. My home is under the blood. My “house” is under the blood! Every curse that once had the legal right to afflict me is broken off, by the blood of Jesus, right now. Amen!
Thank you, Lord!

Great teaching on house cleaning, a quick question. If we are born with soul wounds, does that mean we could be born as a homosexual, what they mean also we could have that inquity in the womb. Often heard I am born that way… especially if we look at PS 51,
Thanks, M
Hello, M. What a great question! Very thought provoking. Katie does not have a teaching that tackles the subject of homosexuality, but she believes, as with anything else, the cause is wounding in the soul. Katie does have friends that are homosexual and was close to many homosexuals while she was incarcerated.
So awesome. Thank you for sharing this. This past weekend I prayed with my daughter to remove those generational curses.
Praise the lord amen
Amen, My house is under the blood, my home is under the blood, I am under the blood.
Amen. Glory to Jesus Christ.
Thank you Katie.
God bless you and your ministry, use you more to bless others.
